Welcome to the Pokémon: Kids & Monsters!

“We’ve all had those aspirations at one point or another- turn 10, get our starter, and fly the roost. The fact that we’re leaving the comfort of our homes and striking out for the great unknown doesn’t even cross our minds- for all we’re concerned, it’s our ticket to get away from our disillusioned parents and dull, unforgiving lives. It’s our first, tantalizing glimpse of adulthood- a taste of the freedom that lies beyond pubescence. But somewhere along the way, the novelty wears off and we suddenly find ourselves further from home than we ever have been, not quite a child anymore, but at the same time not quite an adult either. Freedom is still intoxicating, but now it carries the adverse side effects of loneliness and doubt. Amidst this sea of conflicting emotions, we are all, at one time or another, faced with the age-old question- is this really what we want to be doing for the rest of our lives?”

“Kids & Monsters” is a Play-By-Nova Pokémon sim with thematic elements of the “Kids On Bikes” genre of media, in a vein similar to that of “E.T.”, “The Goonies,” “Stand By Me,” and “Monster Squad”; set against the backdrop of the late 1980s and early 1990s, it follows a group of kids (ages 10 to 15) who are either just starting out on their Pokémon adventure, or have been spending the past few years drifting about it without a cause. United by common interests, players will venture out and explore the boreal Erehwon Region, meeting unusual characters, solving mysteries, and making peace with themselves along the way.
